Report It! Week is a week-long global digital movement led by the members of the Social Media Animal Cruelty Coalition (SMACC), calling on social media users across the globe, from animal protection workers and social media staff to everyday social media users, to take a stand against online animal cruelty.​​

SMACC 101: See It, Think, Act, Your Role in Ending Online Animal Cruelty

​​​​​​​​This session will help the public understand how everyday social media behaviour can impact animals. Using simple explanations and real examples, we’ll show how to engage responsibly online and what to do when you see animal cruelty content. Stay tuned!
Here’s an eye-opener:
SMACC has found that around 47% of content it has reported to platforms has eventually been removed.
Social media platforms do pay attention to the types of content being flagged by users. This reporting activity influences how they prioritize resources and develop new policies. They need to recognize that animal cruelty is a pressing issue and that their users are dissatisfied with encountering such content on their platform.

This is why it is essential to continue reporting, to demonstrate to the platforms that animal cruelty is a significant concern for their users.
