REPORT ANIMAL CRUELTY CONTENT
Reporting online animal cruelty content
If you see animal cruelty content online, don’t engage with it — report it to the platform first.
That means:
Don’t like it. Don’t comment. Don’t share it. Don’t tag people. Report it!
Reporting directly to the platform is the most important step. (see How to Report) Platforms need to hear from users so they can review harmful content, remove it where it breaks their rules, and see that people do not want animal cruelty spreading online.
Reported it to the platform? Let us know!
Tell us which platform you reported it to and what you saw. Then we can track removal rates and identify trends, and push social media platforms to take stronger action. We use public reports as part of our wider evidence base, alongside research and coalition work.
Please use the form rather than emailing us. This helps us manage reports efficiently and keep the information organized.
Due to the volume of information we receive, we cannot respond individually or investigate every case. If there is an opportunity for action, we may share relevant information with animal protection organizations in our coalition or relevant enforcement. But reporting to SMACC is not a replacement for reporting to the platform.
See animal cruelty? Report it to the platform first. Then tell us.
